Select multiple items on mobile

Should be fixed now, cheers!

Yes, it does work on iOS now, too, thanks a lot!

Hi @Erica, I have a bug to report: on mobile, after I select multiple items to perform an action, the button Duplicate Items is not available on my custom toolbar. It is there normally for me for single items, but not when multiple items are selected. And that’s too bad, because I definitely use ā€œduplicate multiple itemsā€ a lot while working on the desktop Dynalist.

Thank you.

perhaps this should be a bug report: I’m often finding when i switch zooms or locations the Multi-select mode doesn’t behave. The button is still checked but i’m in edit mode, not select mode.

Hello @Erica & @Shida,

I hope the issue I mentioned above can be addressed soon; it’s been almost 2 months now…

I just find it disappointing (and I gotta admit, annoying) that the single most useful button I typically need to press after I make multiple selection – duplicate item – is just not available at all!

I’m sure this was just an oversight when you were implementing this great new feature. I hope this omission can be fixed soon. Thank you.

I am not a technical person and am trying to follow this thread, but I’m a bit lost now.
At this point in time
-Can you select multiple items on IOS iPhone?
-If so, how?
-Please give me a clear step-by-step instructions. (Pretend like I’m a 5-year-old)
-Can you do a short instructional video?
Thanks

See these icons on top of your screen?

Tap the checkbox icon. Now tap the different items you want to select. Then use the icon bar on the bottom to do stuff with those items.

That is EXACTLY what I need and was hoping for.
Thank you!!!

Is it possible to select multiple items and copy them to clipboard?

yes it is

Really :astonished:. Could you please share how? Where do I find the copy to clipboard option after selecting multiple items on Mobile?

If your target is within dynalist, I would use Duplicate. Then I would move the copy.

If your target is outside dynalist, I would after selected use Export, and from there click Copy.

Can someone explain this to me step by step. Love Dynalist, and this thread gives the impression this should work easy - but I’m not seeing it.

My specific need…

I want to select multiple items, copy to clip board, with goal to paste elsewhere, outside the app. Not duplicate etc. Does this work?

My setup…

  • I’m on iphone, using the bespoke Dynalist app.
  • I have a Pro account.
  • I have added the ā€œexportā€ icon to the tool bar (as you can see in the video, it’s there, but it disappears.)
  • I’ve tried BOTH the Iphone app, and the Dynalist web app (in both safari and chrome.) Result same in both.
  • Once I select multiple items the export button (on the toolbar) disappears. (see gif)

More details…

  • Yes, I CAN select the top node in a SINGLE list and copy the contents of a list. But once I highlight multiple items, the option to copy them disappears (see gif).

Multi

  • Another annoyance, the dynalist tool bar buttons (on the bottom) overlap directly with the ios home-bar (white line) making it very tricky to even touch the buttons. Compare to other apps (chrome for example) where they add some buffer pixels to give you space not to overlap and accidently interact with the ios home-bar.

Suggestion…

  • This interaction feels really fiddly and over thought. So many taps - custom tool bar setup - go to the top of the screen, bottom of screen - a window pops up - etc etc. Why over complicate it? This is just a simple ā€œselect and copy to clipboardā€ operation. Why not just simplify…
  1. Select your stuff.

  2. At the top of screen a ā€œcopyā€ icon appears right next to the ā€œmulti-selectā€ icon. PLENTY of space for this (and context sensitive so disappears anyway).

  3. Tap the icon. DONE.

Reddit seems to give the impression y’all have abandoned Dynalist to focus on Obsidian? Is this true? The odd ios UX quirks, (home bar etc), lacking simple gestures, etc gives the impression the the app is acquiring some tech debt.
