Creating a link with a
() syntax is great, but is a bit of a chunk of syntax. Recently a new gesture has been noticed: if a user has some text selected and performs a paste gesture with a URL in the clipboard, then instead of overwriting the text with the URL, the selected text becomes the link text with the URL taken from the clipboard. I.e.
[Originally selected text](https://example.com/pasted-link)
The false positive when the user does not mean that should be rare, whereas the effort saved building a link manually is immense.
It’s now universally adopted in the GitHub UI as well as Linear.app.
