Make items "completeable" from a flat list search

The ability to do a “flat list search” is very useful when aggregating various “to do” items into a date ordered list. Typically, if executing on tasks from such a list, a user would want to mark the tasks complete and move down the list one after the other. Currently it does not appear possible to do this directly. The user has to visit an item, then check it off as complete, then return to the list. This adds extra friction when trying to get tasks completed. It would be very useful to be able to simply click the checkbox and have an item immediately marked as complete, directly on the flat search.

Note: Something like this is already possible in relation to date. If you click on a date in the flat list, you can pick a new date. This same type of “in list” functionality is desirable for completing items.

+1, please!

Is there any way to do this, It isn’t convenient to open the task first and then mark it as complete and go back the the flat/global search result. Is there a workaround through CSS?
