Oh? Could it be the default shortcut of the browser?
Yes, they were the default shortcuts of the browser. I just changed them, and now cmd] / cmd[ just donāt trigger anything.
@Thomas_Fischler: does Cmd-]
and Cmd-[
work for you?
No - zoom in/out shortcuts do not work for me. Not in the mac desktop app and not in the browser (Chrome).
But I assume that is a problem of the active keyboard layout / locale. I use a Swiss German keyboard. This keyboard has the [] on the Alt-5 and Alt-6 keys and not as a dedicated keys like on the US keyboard.
If I switch the current keyboard to an US keyboard (system preferences / keyboard / input sources) then Cmd-[ and Cmd-] work as expected if I use the keys on my keyboard at the same positions as the [] keys on an US keyboard.
@p11 - which keyboard / language / locale do you use? Do you have to press an Alt-xy key combination to display the [ or ] in a text editor?
I have changed the cmd-] to Alt-Right (right cursor key) and cmd-[ to Alt-Left (left cursor key). This combination works.
@p11 - have you tried to switch the Dynalist keyboard layout (Settings / Preferences / Input / Keyboard Layout) to German (Germany)? This layout makes exactly the change from cmd-] and cmd-[ to Alt-Right and Alt-Left.
Oh, maybe try this keyboard layout option and see if it works? It says itās for German but actually itās for any keyboard layout that takes Ctrl+]
and Ctrl+[
.
You nailed it! I work with Spanish keyboard layout, and I have to press a key combination to get the [. Strangely, it works well for the [[ link trigger, but not for the other combinations.
Iāve just tried the German keyboard layout option in Dynalist input settings and the Alt-Right Alt-Left work perfectly!
Thank you both for being so nice and helpful. This shortcut will make my use of Dynalist much more practical and useful than it already is.
Best wishes from Barcelona!
Thatās expected, at least from my perspective. [[ and @ triggers works by detected what text has been entered, not what keys have been pressed. So it doesnāt really matter which keyboard layout youāre using for [[ and @.
GREAT! And many thanks, @Thomas_Fischler!
Welcome !
Btw. this keyboard shortcut dilemma needs some rethinking from my point of view. To make things even worser on my Swiss German keyboard the # sign needs an ALT-Key combination which gives also a problem. Therefore I had to switch to Czech keyboard layout and additionally remap the Cmd-] / Cmd-[ keys.
Not very intuitive
Yeah I definitely agree. We honestly didnāt know about AltGr when we made some default keys to have the Ctrl+Alt combinations (which is indistinguishable from AltGr from our end), and that caused quite some problems.
