With previous versions, I could keep the left panel open (as well as adjust the width) and keep a high-level view of the documents. The lastest version (1.4.16 from 2 years ago) on a new macbook auto-hides the panel, which takes away from the ability to scan quickly while working on a current document. Is there a setting to always show the panel?
