My gripe is not with adding things to inbox, but adding things while actually using Dynalist.
Here’s an example:
If I want to add three on the same level as two, I have to:
- click somewhere below
barand pray I don’t click on the small area below it where nothing happens, or even further down where nothing also happens - press enter to make a new node
- press shift tab to go down one level (or more than once if you’re several levels deep)
This is two more actions than the way you do it in Workflowy, which is just clicking the +
, regardless of how deep you are:
Things get worse if the last node is a link, as there’s a rather frequent bug in Dynalist that puts the cursor in the middle of the link (between the [] and the ()), in which case you’ll have to press Ctrl + End before pressing enter. That’s now 4 steps, just to add a node, which is the whole point of the application. Workflowy also has no such problems with links since they’re not markdown (and they’re honestly even easier to edit).
I really like how customizable Dynalist is, but at this point I’m seriously considering going back to Workflowy where it’s easier to perform basic operations.
