Dynalist love letter and request for "maintenance mode"

Erica, Shida,
Dynalist is one of my two all-time favorite apps. I use it every single day. I happily pay for the premium subscription. It’s pretty much perfect. It’s so simple. So powerful. I seriously think of “life before dynalist” and “life after”. I also love Obsidian (my other favorite app!). They are not the same, though. Obsidian does not replace Dynalist. I find them to be complementary. Dynalist augments my short-term working memory, and Obsidian augments my long-term memory.

It makes me sad that Dynalist isn’t actively maintained anymore :frowning: Or at least that’s how it seems. I haven’t seen an update in a very long time.

I would be over the moon to see an update, of any kind. Even if it’s just simply updating the Electron wrapper. It would be like seeing an old friend get their pulse back. Even if you didn’t add any features, I would be ok with that! I just want to know that it will continue to work. I’d be elated to get some indication that it has moved from ‘abandonware’ to ‘maintenance mode’. Is there any possibility of that? Perhaps for Christmas?

Either way, it’s working today. I will enjoy it so long as it’s around. You two are phenoms and I can’t thank you enough for your work!

I agree. It’s great! I’m a new user after using Obsidian for the past few years.

Dynalist is seriously the best outliner I’ve tried. So satisfying and simple to use. Definitely complements Obsidian well.

Learning software development has made me appreciate the work that goes into making something work this well for so long.

Hope it stays around for a long while!

I would be interested in knowing how many $$$ it would take for the developers to turn it into an open source app. I believe development would then take off.

Seems the time is nigh? :sob:
@Shida, Erica, would you consider updating for Apple Silicon?

Think we’re gonna have to take this issue to social media or, better yet, the Obsidian message board for a response.

Agreed - I am working on some extensions I need and it would be a lot easier to do this if they just open sourced it. I think Dynalist has a really good skeleton to build off of and the Obsidian community would probably be on board too if they knew.

I currently don’t have any immediate plans to update the app to support Apple Silicon, but I may perform some explorative work to see how far I can push the app to go to a supported version of Electron.
