Copying and pasting text in an "a" tag without an href attribute doesn't work

Steps to reproduce

  1. Copy the text of an HTML “a” tag that doesn’t have an href attribute
  2. Paste the contents of the clipboard into Dynalist

Expected result

The copied text is pasted into Dynalist

Actual result

Nothing is pasted

Environment

I see this behavior in the web application on macOS and Windows in Chrome 77.0.3865.90.

Additional information

I encountered this when trying to paste an email address copied from Office365.

Here is a screencast of the behavior.

paste

Additional comments

Repro’ed.

I curse non-HTML5-compliant tags Office365 produce, but we can’t fix Office and this should be rather easy to fix on our end. Added to list, will fix. Thanks for the catch!

(I had to use JSFiddle to create such an anchor tag for testing because they aren’t so easy to find :joy:)

@DanH: should be fixed on the web app now, could you confirm?
