It would be nice to do :up_arrow: (that one is broken on purpose) without having to dig for the correct alt code or emoji and pasting it in Dynalist.

Unfortunately iOS 10’s emojis will have to be used for consistency, since there’ll be a mobile app, albeit them being ugly.

To reiterate, I would type some symbols, perhaps a colon, to trigger the emoji search.

This is a separate question from your proposal, but in case you use OS X, there’s a fantastic, somewhat hidden feature to bring up a window to insert Unicode characters by searching for their name.
