Can't use search if not document is open [mobile web]

Steps to reproduce

Starting from scratch, what are the steps to make the bug happen? The fewer the steps, the better.

  1. Have no documents open, (not exactly sure how to do that, but I think itā€™s whilst searching and breaking away from search).
  2. Try to tap on the magnifying glass at the top.

Expected result

What do you expect to see after carrying out the steps above?
The search bar should appear or activated(?).

Actual result

Instead of the expected result, what happened?
Nothing.

Environment

Android 7.1.1, Chrome (and Hermit).

Additional information

Anything else you think would help our investigation, like a screenshot or a log file? You can drag and drop screenshots to this box. For large amount of text, try putting them into something like Pastebin.

Basically tapping on the magnifying glass doesnā€™t do anything.

Are you trying to perform a global search? Because an in-document search in the current document is not applicable when no document is open.

Yes. Ah, that makes sense.

I guess it can default to global search when thereā€™s no document, but it seems like a more minor thing.

What do you think?

I like it, because then I can look for where I was before or would like to go next.
