Spaces collapsed on copy

N.B.

I’m going to use · to denote spaces because Discourse messes with them even inside code blocks (!!).

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create an item with contents Foo···Bar
  2. Select the text (NOT the whole item)
  3. Copy
  4. Paste anywhere

Expected result

Foo···Bar is pasted.

Actual result

Foo·Bar is pasted (the spaces are collapsed).

Environment

Chrome on OS X

Additional information

This doesn’t happen if you select whole items.

Temporary Workaround until this gets fixed

Select the whole item to copy.

Did Discourse just collapsed your spaces too? I can’ tell which one should have a single space and which one should have multiple spaces :frowning:

Wow, Discourse did collapse my spaces even inside code blocks. Not cool.

Anyway, I edited my question to use interpuncts to denote spaces.

I think this problem has come up before. Will verify.

Btw: why are you using multiple spaces? Is it for something special?

I often have 3–5 spaces between long LaTeX ‘annotations’ and normal text for visual clarity, mostly in my math notes.

Hi @Yatharth_Agarwal, sorry for digging this up :grimacing:! We’re cleaning up the bugs and would like to know if the bug is still happening to you? If not we’ll close this bug

Fixed; hurray!

Thanks!
