Editing search results

When I try to edit search results, such as items due today, I use the following steps for each edit:

  1. Filter documents
  2. Click on relevant item (it appears in markdown syntax)
  3. Zoom out
  4. Change focus away from item
  5. Edit item

I’m sure there must be a more efficient way of doing this. Any advice from keyboard ninjas most welcome.

Maybe there could be a way to “lock” search results so that you can edit, instead of zooming into the item?
